Children’s Center has a continuing need for volunteers to assist various departments with projects, ranging from ongoing service to being available on an “as-needed” basis. Whatever your schedule may be, we can work with you to find a good fit in a role that is fun and rewarding. This type of service is invaluable to staff and Children’s Center is deeply appreciative of our volunteers.
Volunteering at the Center
Prevention
Children’s Center is looking for individuals who are interested in becoming a Stewards of Children® Facilitator. An authorized facilitator is an individual who has been trained by Darkness to Light to deliver the Stewards of Children® training program to adults in their organization or community. Facilitators are advocates for keeping children safe from sexual abuse and are key to spreading the prevention message throughout Clackamas County. Facilitators are asked to lead at least three trainings per year. Facilitators can be trained in English or Spanish facilitation. 2 year commitment required.
Development
Children’s Center hosts and participates in several signature events every year. volunteering, you can support our mission to protect kids and prevent child abuse in Clackamas County. We offer many options for volunteering, from a lead role assisting in the coordination and planning of our annual Gala (minimum of 1 year time commitment preferred) to one day events. At each event, you’ll receive on-the-job training while working with Children’s Center staff and community partners at these locations.
Therapy
After assessments have been completed, children and families can continue their healing by taking part of our therapy program. Our therapy program is located in our therapy house, across the street from our main center. This allows families and children to participate in therapy in a calm and friendly environment that has a home feel to it. Because our therapists are so busy providing our therapy services, they can always use the support of volunteers to help them organize their therapy and art supplies.
Administration
Our clinical and administrative staff are responsible for meeting families when they arrive to the center for their assessment, answering phones and responding to requests for information. As a result, our administrative staff can always use the support of volunteers to cover phones, greet families, sit with children while waiting for their assessment to begin. Volunteer opportunities also include, filing, copy making and organizing.
