Family Support Services

Dealing with concerns of abuse and neglect is an overwhelming task for parents and caregivers. Our family support team can help caregivers understand how this experience will impact the child and what adults can do to help the child cope and recover. The Family Support Specialists are Master’s level clinicians who offer emotional support, education and referrals to resources in the community for ongoing services. Family Support services are available to any concerned caregiver, even if the child is not seen in the clinic for a full assessment.

Often, the first contact that a family has with Children’s Center is with the Intake Specialists, who work with families and professionals in the community to gather relevant information to ensure a thorough child abuse assessment. The team also offers families up-front emotional support while providing them information about Children’s Center services. Intake specialists explain every step of the assessment and answer questions, so that children and families know what to expect when they walk through our doors.

Healthy Boundaries & Behaviors (HBB)

RISK was established by the Clackamas County Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide support, education, resources and intervention to children eleven years and younger who demonstrate sexually inappropriate behavior. Children’s Center contacts families in these cases with a goal of addressing these behaviors before they escalate to necessitate juvenile justice involvement.
